Community Projects and Workshops
We run community film and creative projects that create real opportunities for people who might not otherwise have access to them. Some of this work is supported through funding and grants, which we are hugely grateful for. The rest is funded through our commercial projects, allowing us to put paid, professional work back into the community.
The Baton of Hope – Portsmouth
This film honours the life and legacy of Project Lead Lara Kynvin, whose passion, compassion, and determination were central to bringing the Baton of Hope to Portsmouth.
As part of the UK’s largest suicide prevention initiative, the Baton of Hope united the city in a shared message of remembrance, mental health awareness, and hope.
Film Crew 4U CIC played a key role in the Portsmouth event, documenting the day through filming the main procession, recording personal testimonies from Baton Bearers, and producing films for supporting organisations and sponsors.
This film captures the unity, emotion, and collective commitment to change that defined the Baton of Hope Portsmouth event.

Tuesday Club Studios
We were invited to support a photography group at The City of Portsmouth College in developing their first short films, following a recommendation from Chris Jupp of Fat Finger Films. What began as practical filmmaking support quickly grew into a collaborative process, resulting in the creation of two completed films.
Off the back of this work, members of the group went on to form their own independent filmmaking collective, now known as Tuesday Club Studios, applying the skills and confidence developed through the process to continue making films together.

Next Generation Filmmaking Workshops – Fort Widley
Delivered in collaboration with The Young Creatives Portsmouth, the Next Generation Filmmaking Workshops at Fort Widley supported young people aged 14–19 in developing practical filmmaking skills.
The workshops focused on scripting, storyboarding, filming, acting, editing, and visual effects, guiding participants through the full creative process from initial idea to finished film. Sessions were hands-on and collaborative, designed to build creative confidence, teamwork, and technical ability.
Participants produced short films while gaining industry-relevant experience and a stronger understanding of how stories are shaped for the screen.

Next Generation Filmmaking Workshops – The Base
Delivered in collaboration with The Young Creatives Portsmouth, the Next Generation Filmmaking Workshops at The Base, Portsmouth Guildhall, supported young people aged 10–14 in developing practical filmmaking skills.
The workshops placed a strong emphasis on filming, editing, and special effects, introducing participants to visual storytelling through hands-on, creative experimentation. Sessions were designed to be accessible and engaging, encouraging curiosity, collaboration, and creative confidence.
Participants created short films while learning how camera work, editing, and effects come together to shape engaging screen stories.

Motiv8 Filmmking Workshops
We have worked in long-term partnership with Motiv8 to deliver filmmaking and animation workshops for young people across Portsmouth.
Between 2022 and 2024, the programmes introduced participants to green screen filmmaking, editing, special effects, stop-motion, and digital animation. Supported by Arts Council England and community funding, the workshops provided a safe, creative space for young people to build confidence, develop practical skills, and take ownership of their work.

Changing Futures Sussex - Funding & Impact Films
We worked with Changing Futures Sussex to produce two short films supporting different stages of their work. One film was created to clearly communicate the programme’s vision and support funding applications, while the second focused on documenting outcomes and real-world impact.
Through filming, editing, and narrative shaping, we helped bring together participant voices, lived experience, and programme outcomes in a way that was human, clear, and aligned with Changing Futures Sussex’s goals.

UK Pride Portsmouth 2025 - Flag Tour & Main Event
In 2025 Portsmouth hosted UK Pride, a landmark celebration of LGBTQ+ community, inclusion, and visibility. In the lead-up to the main parade, a 60 m community-made Pride flag was taken to iconic city landmarks as part of a year-long programme of events, building momentum and participation across Portsmouth.
We filmed both the flag tour and the main UK Pride event, capturing the energy, community stories, and colourful celebrations that made this one of the city’s most memorable Pride moments.

Great Oaks College – SEND Filmmaking Workshops
In collaboration with Drop the Mask Productions CIC, we delivered a series of filmmaking workshops with students at Great Oaks College.
The workshops introduced young people with additional needs to filmmaking through green screen, stop-motion animation, and storytelling. Across multiple sessions, students developed and completed their own creative projects, building confidence, collaboration skills, and creative ownership both on camera and behind the scenes.

The True Survivor - A Personal Documentary
The True Survivor is a biographical documentary created to help Chris Peskett share his story and leave a personal message behind.
The film explores Chris’s lived experience, including hidden disabilities, and the challenges he has faced throughout his life. Through his own words, it reflects on resilience, determination, and the strength it takes to keep moving forward against significant adversity.
At its core, The True Survivor is a personal legacy film, honest, human, and life-affirming, encouraging viewers to recognise their own resilience and potential.

Portsmouth Recovery Festival – Films
We worked with Portsmouth Film Society on their Recovery Festival to produce a series of promotional content and short films, that centred lived experience and recovery journeys.
The films played a central role in encouraging open discussion, reducing stigma, and helping audiences connect with recovery through honest, personal stories.
Feedback showed that the films were among the most impactful elements of the festival, contributing to high levels of engagement and a strong sense of safety, reflection, and connection for those attending.

The Promise – Collaborative Theatre & Film Project
The Promise was a collaborative project bringing together inclusive theatre, music, and film to create a live performance celebrating creativity and shared experience.
Working with Red Sauce Inclusive Theatre and partners, Film Crew 4U provided filming and documentation, creating rehearsal films and recording the final performance at Portsmouth Guildhall. The project supported adults with learning and physical disabilities to experience the full production process in an open, accessible environment.
The filmed material also supported evaluation and future learning.

Veteran Storytelling Sessions
We worked in collaboration with VOS Veteran Outreach Support to support veterans who wanted to share their stories in meaningful and impactful ways.
Using green screen filmmaking, we created a safe, supportive space where participants could tell their stories on their own terms, with visual elements built around them to enhance and reflect their experiences. The workshops focused on respectful storytelling, creative control, and personal expression, enabling veterans to shape how their stories were told both on camera and through visual imagery.

Speak Their Name Memorial Quilt
We documented the Speak Their Name Memorial Quilt from start to finish, filming the creation of the quilt, interviewing contributors, and capturing the project as it toured locations across the South.
The work involved recording in-depth interviews with around 20 people who each created a tile in memory of someone they had lost, alongside filming the making of the quilt and producing social media content to support awareness and engagement throughout the tour.
This resulted in a 20-minute documentary that sensitively brings together personal stories, remembrance, and the collective impact of the project, with care, dignity.
